Introducing "TOWER OF THE FOUR WINDS" - Circa 1964

Do you remember ever seeing "It's A Small World" ride by Walt Disney?

WIP - Tower Of The Four Winds by MarioSiART

It all started at the New York City World's Fair in 1964.

It's A Small World made it's premiere at the New York City World's Fair in 1964. Walt Disney felt that It's a Small World needed to have a dramatic landmark of it's own, and asked designer Rolly Crump, legendary within Imagineering for his fanciful sculptures and mobiles to create a giant tower that would provide the colorful kinetics Walt envisioned.

Rolly's solution can be seen in the above drawing by Mario Saverino/MarioSiART inspired by the sketch by Paul Hartley of the Tower of the Four Winds, a magical ever turning mobile which graced the outside of the pavilion for the two years of the fair. Sadly, there was no budget available to save the tower after the fair closed.

The Tower of the Four Winds drawing as seen above can be yours in signed by artist print form. The original drawing is 13" wide x 19" high and is one of the sizes available in my shop of MarioSiART Signed Art Prints.
